Honda FourTrax Rancher Features
AUTOMATIC DCT
The Rancher’s Honda’s automatic DCT transmission offers a robust, fast shifting, excellent control, true compression-braking capability, and an automated program that upshifts and downshifts while you concentrate on riding. This is one of the best options available that you can make.
ELECTRICAL SHIFTING PROGRAM AVAILABLE
The convenience of the push-button shifts with the rugged design of conventional ATV transmissions that’s what you get with the exclusive Honda Electric Shift Program (ESP). Just tap one button to go up and one button to Downshift. This is a great plus when you wear heavy work shoes or overshoes or ride in mud or snow. Additional benefits: You get genuine compression braking for better speed control when operating in steep terrain.
DIGITAL INSTRUMENTS
Easy to read and full of the information you want. In addition to standard gear position indicators, speedometer, odometer, travel meter, and clock meter-you get readouts for fuel level, clock, cooling temperature, speed, and Honda “Maintenance minder ” System (to help remind you when it’s time to have your ATV served). Come with all the ranchers except the base model.
DISC BRAKE (MODEL IRS RANCHER)
An IRS model rancher offers nearby disc brakes for excellent braking performance.
IN-TANK FUEL PUMPS
The Rancher combines in a fuel tank pump for cold pump operation and long pump life.
LONGITUDINAL LAYOUT OF THE MACHINE
With the front crankshaft orientated to return in the chassis on the ATV and side-by-side machining, we route the power flow directly to the wheels without needing the right angle of the detour, reduce the friction of the powertrain and put more snorting into the ground.
SEMI-DRY-SUMP MACHINE DESIGN
Compact and lightweight-heavy, rancher’s overhead-valve, semi-dry-sump design creates a machine that is shorter than top to bottom. That returns two great benefits: it enhances the handling by lowering the center of gravity engine, and also allows for better ground clearance.
The rock-solid system gives you the freedom to choose between lightweight steering (at 2WD) and maximize the traction available (in a 4WD) when you need it.
WIDE FRONT DRIVESHAFT PROTECTOR
Designed to add more forward-facing Rancher axles and CV outboards, the driveshaft guards are another example of how Honda engineers sweat small details to give you one of the best ATV’s on the planet.

Honda FourTrax Rancher Performance
Being able to rely on sharp performance and start under any circumstances is a must for anyone who depends on their ATV. Thanks to Honda programmable Fuel Injection (PGM-FI) – featuring a 34mm throttle body, 12-hole injectors, and an oxygen sensor that allows fuel mapping to instantaneously adjust to any riding condition – the Rancher not only guarantees trouble-free operation in the cold and at various elevations, but it also reduces emissions and improves fuel efficiency.
INDEPENDENT REAR SUSPENSION (IRS)
The Rancher Automatic DCT with independent rear suspension (IRS) has more than 8 inches of travel and 9-inch clearance. That returns two great benefits: first, helping ensure a constant tire contact with the ground for superior traction; Secondly, it gives you a smooth ride over rough terrain, so you don’t get beat on the road.
ELECTRIC POWER STEERING (EPS) AVAILABLE
Speed and torque-sensitive, Honda Electric Power steering (in Rancher EPS model) excel in reducing steering efforts and kickbacks through handlebars. This is a great help when riding on ruts, over rocks, or in long sidehills. A specially designed mounting system for EPS units enhances strength and stiffness.
Clean, efficient, proven, low-maintenance. The driveshaft is the perfect choice for engines like this, and for riders that accumulate in miles. You don’t have to worry about lubrication or adjustments out on the road. Plus Extras: This helps keep your ATV cleaners as well.

REAR SUSPENSION SWINGARM
On select Model Rancher, Swingarm rear combines a closed, solid-axle design for strength and rigidity. When you need to tow heavy loads, the Swingarm removes the rear suspension squats as the load is placed on the shaft itself, rather than on the rear shock.
FRONT AND REAR CARGO RACKS
The rancher’s shelf features a strong, steel construction, and they include a large flat area. Better yet, they are designed to integrate with our Honda Pro-Connect™ system. You can quickly attach and detach accessories such as our cargo boxes, without tools, to add flexibility and comfort.
1.9-LITER FRONT UTILITY BOX
The perfect size for a small item that you want to access quickly-like a mobile phone, GPS, or a pair of spare gloves.
REVERSE ELECTRONICS
Available on our automatic DCT and Electric Shift Program (ESP) models, this single-lever is convenient and easy to operate. This is especially useful when you have to switch from the front to reverse repeatedly, such as when you are plowing the snow.
COMFORTABLE CHAIRS
A plush and open seat Triangle Rider (Bar/chair/PEG) team with the suspension to really treat you right. Superior ergonomics have always been Honda’s priority, and Rancher is no exception. With thick and durable foam, very comfortable.
