The weldless frame is designed from lightweight aluminum with a tension-steel underframe that allows the machine to sit lower for excellent mass centering.
Components and suspension settings reduce weight while providing light, sharp handling, and rider comfort.
With more room to hang in the corner, the bodywork is designed for exceptional ergonomics and rider comfort.
The seat’s shape is padded in the right place, while the body panel is easily removed without service, so there is no need to remove the battery or other components to remove the fenders.
The 449cc engine uses titanium five-valve cylinder head technology to produce abundant power in the mid-to-high-end classes with a more “bumpy” feeling at idle.
A higher compression ratio further improves the overall performance of the engine.
The YFZ450R incorporates Yamaha Fuel Injection (YFI) for precise fuel delivery. With a large 42 mm Mikuni® throttle body and a 12-hole injector, the system provides exceptional fuel atomization for maximum power.
The system also includes ISC (Idle Speed Control) for easy and reliable ignition and heating.
The assist-and-slipper clutch reduces the power of the clutch lever to reduce fatigue while increasing the pressure of the clutch plate for a positive startup.
This clutch system also reduces the engine’s braking effect for faster cornering, especially when downshifting.

With a 449cc engine, fuel injection has outstanding power characteristics. The power delivery is smooth and powerful, with a lot of mid-range and top-end power.

The body configuration allows more space for the rider to move during the moto. The front seats are narrow but comprehensive and soft in the back to reduce fatigue.
It has been designed with the inner lip rolled inward to increase sturdiness, allowing weight reduction while maintaining strength.
The wheels are set wide to motocross specifications, approaching the maximum allowable limit of 50 inches for exceptional cornering speeds.
Maxxis® tires provide excellent handling and control. At 20 inches in the back and 21 inches in the front, they provide better ground clearance than the competition.
The lightweight frame is a combination of aluminum and steel. The frame members under the machine are made of steel and are used because of their low strength and profile so that the device can sit lower overall for excellent mass centering and unparalleled handling.
The aluminum frame is bolted together, not welded, for maximum durability.
The front frame is made as narrow as possible at the mounting point of arms A. This increases the length of the A-arm and reduces camber changes as the suspension moves through its full range of motion.
The front of KYB® is longer to improve stroke, has excellent impact absorption, and has outstanding anti-basic characteristics.
The Kashima ™ lining offers smooth operation, while the 9.8-inch wheel ride means racers are ready for the most challenging tracks.
